Cloud Computing / CoLo Hosted Services Assistance

For organizations wishing to take advantage of Cloud Computing and CoLocation (CoLo) Hosted offerings from various vendors, CCO's consultants can provide a number of services to help organizations.  Cloud Computing and CoLo hosted offerings typically have organizations remove servers from traditional company-owned data centers and move them to data centers owned, managed, and operated by a 3rd party organization.

However, Private Cloud is an alternative that allows organizations to implement a Cloud environment, but choose where to host their servers (that could include hosting an organization's servers in its own datacenter)

Some of the services that CCO provides in terms of Cloud Computing and CoLo Hosted Services assistance include:

  • Understanding the options in Cloud Computing (see Rand's presentation off the Events / Online Events link on "Understanding Microsoft's Cloud Strategy" that provides insight and options in the Cloud)
  • Providing pros/cons of the various Cloud Computing / CoLo providers available on the marketplace (ie: Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Microsoft Azure Services Platform, Qwest, RackSpace, etc)
  • Understanding the features / functions that are gained or lost when migrating from an inhouse data center to an external data center (ie: Internet services, security, backup, manageability, etc)
  • Data Center consolidation planning (identifying how many data centers, servers, and applications can be consolidated during the migration process)
  • Project management and Hands-on migration from company-owned to external data center
  • Decommission existing internal data center once the migration has been completed
  • Providing consulting assistance and knowledge transfer on administering an environment with local users and external data center resources
